The SOX Trail Run is known as the most diverse 3-day trail run in South Africa and takes place in the Garden Route, with 90% of the route laid out within the South Africa National Park’s protected property.

You will run on pristine hiking trails in the mountain on day one, experience the tranquillity of our lush, indigenous forest on day two and end off, with day three, along the stunning coastline of the Garden Route. SOX

 

  • Day 1: 29km Mountain Stage  single track, in the Outeniqua mountains
  • Day 2: 30km  Forest Stage single track in the indigenous Knysna forest.
  • Day 3: 16km Coastal Stage with 6 km beach running along the Wilderness coastline, followed by single track, hiking trails, a river crossing by pont, jeep track, and a floating bridge.

SOX Sport (the same experience with less the distance)

  • Day 1: 23km Mountain Stage  single track, in the Outeniqua mountains.
  • Day 2: 17km Forest Stage  mainly single track in the indigenous Knysna forest.
  • Day 3: 16km Coastal Stage with 6 km beach running along the Wilderness coastline, followed by single track, hiking trails, a river crossing by pont, jeep track, and a floating bridge.

  • Day 1: 10 km Mountain Stage  single track
  • Day 2: 10 km Forest Stage  single track in the indigenous Knysna forest.
  • Day 3: 10 km Coastal stage with 6km beach running along the Wilderness coastline, followed by single track and a floating bridge.

Entry Fee Information

Payment Plan available:

Pay 30% of your total entry with Registration, second payment due 31 May 2019, and final payment due 30 June 2019. Please note that first payment is not refundable.

SOX, SOX Sport and SOX Lite Trail run, included in the entry fee:

  • 3-day challenge in the unspoilt beauty of the Garden Route. Each day’s route will be unique in that Day 1 will take competitors on a challenging 29km route (23km for the Sport and 10km for the Lite) route in the Outeniqua Mountains. Day 2 will be something completely different – 30km (17km for the Sport and 10km for the Lite) of spectacular trails through beautiful Indigenous Forests. Day 3 will conclude with a 16km trail run for the Full and Sport and 10km for the Lite, along on our spectacular coast line.
  • 3 Stages of pure trail running on well-marked routes in pristine areas that are usually not accessible to runners.
  • Unforgettable trail running along the scenic Outeniqua mountains and Knysna Forest and picturesque Wilderness area.
  • Permission and access fees from Sanparks and Cape Pine areas each day.
  • SANParks daily Conservation Fees for those who do not have a Wild Card.

Registration and Late Entries:

Pre-entries for the event will close Wednesday, 24 July 2019. Late entries or entries on the day, will not be accepted. Registration for the event will take place on Thursday, 8 August 2019 from 12:00 – 19:00 with a compulsory race briefing afterwards.

Cancellation  / Refund Policy

No refunds on Payment Plan deposits paid. 50% Refund when cancelling prior to 31 January 2019. No refund when cancelling after 1 February 2019. Substitutions available at R450.00 up until 31 July 2019.

Registration and Late Entries

Enter before 31 December 2018 and receive a limited edition event t-shirt! Pre-entries for the event will close 24 July 2019. No late entries or entries on the day will be accepted. Registration for the event will be at Ebb & Flow, Wilderness on Thursday, 8 August 2019 from 12:00 – 19:00 with a compulsory race briefing afterwards.

How to get there

The Wilderness Section of the Garden Route National Park is situated close to the N2 highway, 15km from George, 2km from Wilderness village, 410km from Port Elizabeth and 450km from Cape Town. The closest airport is at George, where car hire facilities are available. Guests visiting Wilderness’ Ebb & Flow Rest Camp, please note the road sign on the N2 to the Park reads Wilderness National Park and not Ebb & Flow. Race Village

Race Village will be at SANParks Ebb & Flow Restcamp, Wilderness.  The entire venue will be booked out for the event.

Massages

Listening Hands Sport Massage Therapists

Bookings will open on 1 January 2019, when you can secure your massage time slots, for the event between the 9th to 11th August 2019.  Massages costs are R250 per half an hour time slot, per person.  We have times available from 12:00 until 17:00, and then 18:00 until 21:00.  The massage stations will be set up at the SOX Race Village, at Ebb & Flow. SOX Kids Club Zone

Brand new in 2019!

We’ve created a separate Kids Zone where you will be able to drop off kids between the ages of 5 and 16, to be entertained while you are out on the trails or enjoying some time off after your run.

Kids will be treated to fun activities and looked after by qualified childminders in a dedicated area, where they can enjoy the following activities:

Face Painting, Balloon Twisting Fun, Jumping Castles, Arts & Crafts and Movies.

Healthy treats will be available during the day.
